I am delighted to have been named Photographer of the Year 2025 at this year's Architecture Photography Awards.
This award is a great honour and confirms my photographic path. For me, architectural photography is more than just depicting buildings – it is a visual language that brings lines, shapes, light and shadow into aesthetic balance.
Architectural photography as minimalist art
My focus is on minimalist architectural photography. By reducing images to clear structures and graphic elements, I aim to reveal the essence of architecture. This results in images that draw the viewer's attention to details that are easily overlooked in everyday life:
Facades as geometric patterns
the interplay of light and shadow
clear lines that lead rhythmically through the space
This type of minimalist photography allows architecture to be interpreted not only documentarily, but also artistically.
Significance of the Architecture Photography Awards
The Architecture Photography Awards are among the most important international competitions in the field of architectural photography. The ‘Photographer of the Year’ category is not just about individual images, but about a consistent visual language and the ability to place architecture in a visual context.
The fact that my work has been recognised in this field fills me with pride – and inspires me to continue exploring new creative avenues in architectural photography.
Acknowledgements and outlook
I would like to express my special thanks to everyone who shares and supports my passion for photography – whether through joint projects, inspiring conversations or simply by taking an interest in my pictures.
This award is not an end point, but rather an incentive to continue developing my skills. I am planning new photography projects that focus on modern architecture, urban spaces and minimalist compositions – topics that I will report on regularly here in this blog.
